Engineering and production planning with CAD, CAM and ERP
The most cost-effective optimization of a sheet metal part happens before manufacturing. Our engineering team reviews your drawing for manufacturing-oriented implementation, and production planning schedules material, machines and deadlines via the ERP system — so that your idea becomes an economical series part.
From the first line to production readiness
At August Bertrams GmbH, order processing, production planning and engineering are carried out with ERP, CAD and CAM — by the same people who also know the machines your part will later run on.
This pays off twice over: manufacturing-oriented design lowers unit costs (fewer operations, better material utilization, suitable bend radii), and the continuous data chain from CAD through CAM to the CNC machine avoids transmission errors between engineering and manufacturing.
You can commission us with finished drawings — or with an idea. From the idea to the series part: make use of our expertise.
What engineering and production planning deliver
Manufacturing-oriented design (CAD)
We review geometry, bend radii, tolerances and the choice of material — and suggest changes that lower costs before they arise.
CAM programming
The CAD model gives rise to the programs for the laser, punch and press brake — with optimal nesting for the best material utilization.
Planning & scheduling (ERP)
Material procurement, machine allocation and delivery dates run through our ERP system — with 1,200 tonnes of material throughput per month, the prerequisite for reliable deadlines.
Coating-oriented design
Drainage openings for the e-coat, suspension points for the powder coating — the finishing is engineered in from the very start.
Materials consultancy
Structural steel, fine-grain structural steel or non-ferrous metal? We advise based on stress load, formability and cost — details on the materials page.
Documentation to QM standards
All steps are subject to our quality management in accordance with DIN EN ISO 9001 — traceable from the order to the inspection report.
Getting started is this easy
Send us your CAD data or drawing with the quantity, material and preferred deadline. No finished model? Then describe the function — we design the part together with you all the way to production readiness.
Frequently asked questions
What data can I supply for a request?
The fastest way is with CAD data or dimensioned drawings plus quantity, material and preferred deadline. You only have a sketch or an idea? You can request with that too — engineering is part of our range of services.
What does manufacturing-oriented design mean?
Designing a part so that it can be manufactured with as few operations as possible, suitable bend radii and good material utilization. This lowers unit costs — often significantly — without changing the function.
Does Bertrams also handle the engineering without a finished drawing?
Yes. From the first draft through sample parts to the series part, we develop the component together with you — designed with CAD and matched directly to our machines.
What does production planning do with the ERP system?
It plans material procurement, machine allocation and deadlines for currently around 1,200 tonnes of material per month. For you, this means reliable delivery dates instead of ad-hoc scheduling.
